Secretariat staffs serve strike notice

Normal working in Government offices except some essential services all over the State was paralyzed as the employees JAC (AMTUC and AMGEO) resumed indefinite pen down strike giving a charter of demands from today.
In a statement, the JAC said that All Manipur Fisheries Employees Union, Directorate of Information and Public Relations Employees Association, Industries Department, Weight and Measures, Tribal Development, Agriculture, Forest, Art and Culture, Horticulture, Treasury, Education (S), Education (U), Science and Technology, Jail, Settlement and Land Records, Election and Labour and Employment have joined the strike.
Employees of the Social Welfare Department, Town Planning, CADA, Taxation, MAHUD, Civil and Session Court, Statistics, Planning, Adult Education, MOBC, State Lotteries, DC offices.
Cooperatives, Food and Civil Supplies, Motor Vehicles, Tourism, Medical, Electricity and Veterinary Department have also resorted to pen down strike, it added.
The JAC further said that State Government employees in Thoubal, Bishnupur, Chandel, Moreh have also supported the strike.
The statement further charged that the Government has violated the rights of the employees and the current strike is being undertaken to uphold the rights.
Meanwhile the Manipur Secretariat Services Association (MSSA) and the Manipur Secretariat Drivers (non-ministerial) Services Association in an emergency meeting on October 11 decided to launch a cease-work strike from October 22 if the Government fails to fulfill their demands within October 20.Raising its demands the MSSA submitted its 'Strike Notice' to the Governor, Advisor (K), Advisor (R), Chief Secretary, Addl Chief Secretaries, Principal Secy (Finance) and the Commissioner (GAD)today.
The demands are (a) Revocation of - (i) withdrawal/suspension order of Rank Pay, Special Pay, (ii) withdrawal/suspension order of House Rent Allowances, (iii) withdrawal/suspension order of Transport Allowances, (iv) withdrawal/ suspension of the restriction order on medical reimbursement and (v) withdrawal/suspension of the reduction order of maximum leave encashment order from 300 days to 240 days, (b) To issue order for release of 3 doses of DA 3% from 1-7-2000, 2% from 1-1-2001 and 2% from 1-7-2001 as it was already enjoyed by the Central Government employees and (c) Rectification of Pay Anomalies.
Meanwhile, All Manipur Industries Department Officers' Welfare Association (AMIDOWA) and the Non-Gazetted Employees' Welfare Organization (NGEWO) in a meeting on October 16 decided to support the ongoing 'pen-down strike of the JAC of Government employees, a statement said.
The Medical Department Employees' Association, Imphal has also decided to support the pen-down strike.
The administrative staff of the department will first join the strike.
