Fitting tribute paid to June 18 Martyrs on Great June Uprising and Unity Day Observance at Kekrupat

Imphal, June 18 2018: Fitting tribute was paid today to the martyrs of June 18 who had sacrificed their live during 2011 uprising to protect the territorial integrity of the state.

All Manipur United Club organisation and the the United Committee Manipur observed the day as 17th Great June Uprising and Unity Day at Kekrupat.

Representatives from various ethnic community of the state as well as Manipuris who had settled outside the state attended the observance at Kekrupat.

Various speakers from different ethnic communties spoke on the occasion and reaffirmed to stand together for protection of the Territorial integrity of the state.

Some speakers like RK Ranendrajit , Ibotombi Khuman, Ima Ramani and Ima Memchoubi lambast the government over its agenda on the Frame Work agreement who had time and again created apprehension among the people of the state.

All together 18 people were martyred in police action during the uprising against the extension of cease fire between NSCN-IM and the Government of India in the state and 3 other died in the following agitation.

Many were injured in the uprising.
