Imphal, February 18 2025: The Finance Secretary of United National Kuki Army (UKNA) has been arrested by the security forces from Churachandpur, said Assam Rifles.

While the name of the arrested cadre of the UKNA has not been disclosed, the Assam Rifles said security forces recovered several arms and ammunition including an AK-47 Rifle from his possession.

The United National Kuki Army (UNKA) is a non-SoO group.

He was arrested during a cordon and search operation in Kaprang area, Churachandpur, following specific inputs about presence of "cadres", said the Assam Rifles in a statement.

Upon spotting the security forces, the cadre attempted to flee under the cover of darkness.

"In a display of tactical discipline and concern for civilian safety, the troops refrained from opening fire and instead pursued the fugitive on foot, surrounded him and forced him to surrender," said AR .

An AK-47 Rifle and ammunition were recovered from him.

A further thorough search of the house where he was hiding resulted in recovery of one .315 Rifle and a country-made Single-Barrel Rifle.

On initial questioning, the cadre identified himself as the Finance Secretary of the United National Kuki Army (UKNA), which is a non-Suspension of Operations (SoO) entity, said AR.

The apprehended individual and the recovered weapons have been handed over to the Manipur Police.
