Imphal, October 16 2010: The many doubts and questions raised over the authenticity of the BBC report that UNLF Chairman RK Meghen has been arrested in Bangladesh, have finally been put to rest with the Vice Chairperson of the outfit himself confirming it in a statement issued to the press today.

A statement issued by the outfit's Vice-Chairman Kh Pambei explained that Sana Yaima was travelling in his own vehicle (Dhaka Metro G-17-0716) in Lalmatia area of Dhaka under Mohammadpur police station at about 12.30 pm of September 29 when he was apprehended by a combined team of Indian intelligence agency RAW and their Bangladeshi counterparts.

As he was halted by the intelligence team, some of whom were in uniform and some others in plain clothes, Sana Yaima managed to inform his comrades about the situation through telephone.

At the moment, the Chairman was just 10 minutes' distance away from his destination.

On receiving the information, some party men rushed to the spot and it was confirmed that one individual was taken away by security agency along with his vehicle.

In connection with the incident, a report was filed at Mohammadpur police station (FIR No 1981 dated 29/09/10) and missing reports were published in Bangladesh based daily papers Yugantor and Inqilab.

After this, the Vice-Chairman after consulting the Central Committee sent a written appeal to the Government of Bangladesh seeking the Chairman's release along with detailed account of the justified liberation movement of Manipur.

But in total violation of international laws and principles, the Government of Bangladesh in cahoots with the Government of India kept the whereabouts of Sanayaima a secret for several days.

This very act of keeping the whereabouts of an arrested person unknown to the public is an act of kidnapping and international terrorism, it charged.

After keeping the whereabouts of Sanayaima a secret for almost ten days, it was reported in the BBC and some sections of Indian media on October 13 that the Chairman had been taken to New Delhi.

As this act was clandestine and unacceptable to international norms, both the Government of Bangladesh and Government of India are still unable to give an account of the arrest of Chairman and they would never dare to give a true account, Pambei asserted.

By keeping the whereabouts of Sanayaima a secret till date, the Government of India is violating its own laws which is only a manifestation of the colonial rule imposed upon the people of Manipur, he alleged.

Some countries which are dependent on India are also supporting such clandestine activities of India.

Yet, such agenda of India will never succeed in suppressing the revolutionary movements of the North East region.

Rather it would intensify the war of liberation.

"We accept the Government of India's challenge and we are prepared for it", the Vice-Chairman stated.

"Even as the Chairman has fallen into the hands of India, the UNLF and all MPA cadres have once again re-affirmed their commitment to intensify the liberation movement together with the people," he added.
