Imphal, June 15 2013 :
The name Naga People's Front (NPF) is self-explanatory and it is concerned with the interest of a single community, asserted Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
Commenting on the initiative of some political parties to join hands with NPF and reacting to certain press statements of NPF, Gaikhangam stated that Congress said nothing wrong or misleading about NPF.
Whatever Congress stated about NPF was reflected well in their own election manifesto.
If NPF Manipur unit president Soso Lorho is willing to correct himself, it would be commendable.
Yet, NPF shares little concern with the interest and welfare of Manipur, asserted Gaikhangam who is also president of MPCC(I).
Pointing out that NPF's primary agenda is integration of Naga inhabited areas, Gaikhangam stated that all political parties need to think twice before joining hands with NPF.

To a query, the Deputy CM claimed that the State Government has been working hard to set up fast track courts to deal with crimes against women.
He went on to say that the State Govt is keen to establish a prompt justice delivery system.
The Govt is also working to table a Bill which can effectively check the menace of drug trafficking and related cases during the ongoing monsoon session of the State Assembly.
The Deputy Chief Minister sought cooperation from social organisations, NGOs and others towards the Government efforts aimed at uprooting the practice of drug trafficking.
Maintaining that the Government has not ceased lobbying for implementation of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, Gaikhangam said that the Government is willing to send an all-party delegation to New Delhi after the Assembly session and put the case of ILPS before central leaders.
To another query about the Union Home Minister's remarks on the Manipur State Legislative Assembly resolution adopted last year in favour of enforcing ILPS in Manipur, Gaikhangam opined that the Union Home Minister's remarks might have been prompted by certain inappropriate or strong words used in the resolution.
The State Government is considering about reviving the Manipur State Human Rights Commission, Gaikhangam added.
