Imphal, January 15 2020: Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that the primary objective of the present government is to bridge the gap between the people and government and to deliver good governance.

He was speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the joint Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day held at Chief Minister's Secretariat, today.

The Chief Minister maintained that with the love and support of the people, the government could maintain a peaceful and cohesive environment in the State.

He continued that the trust and confidence between the hills and valley of the State has also been regained.

He further stated that the motive of organising Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day is to address the problems faced by the people and extend maximum support to the needy people of the State.

The turnout on Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day is decreasing every month as people's grievances has been timely addressed and solved by the government machineries.

He promised that he would continue to hold Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day.

Acknowledging the Manipur State Co-Operative Bank (MSCB) for extending help to the people, Chief Minister said that MSCB received a total of around 1800 applications for providing soft loans from various individuals, Self Help Groups (SHGs) etc.

Among them around 1181 applications were shortlisted and around Rs.10 (ten) crores has been sanctioned to 400 individuals and SHGs, he added.

Another Rs 6 (six) crores will be disbursed soon, he continued.

He appreciated the banks including State Bank of India (SBI), United Bank of India (UBI) and other banks for extending their support to uplift the standard of lives of the people of the State.

Mentioning the alleged discrepancies in the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 data, Chief Minister informed that the State government is considering to form a committee to look into the errors of inclusion of genuine households in the SECC data so that needy people could get benefits under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) .

Replying to the media persons about the construction of new Manipur Bhawan at Dwarka, New Delhi, Chief Minister said that the existing two Bhawans located at New Delhi will be dismantled soon for upgradation.

Before dismantling the existing Bhawans, the government will construct another Manipur Bhawan at Dwarka and 2 (two) acres of land has been procured in this regard.

A sum of Rs.150 crores will be required for the entire purpose, he added.

A total of 20 rooms equipped with medical ventilators will also be included in the Manipur Bhawan, Dwarka so as to facilitate those people who are going for medical treatment to Delhi.

He also mentioned that similar Manipur Bhawans will be constructed at Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru soon.

Highlighting the benefits of the Go to Village to the people, Chief Minister said that the government will re-continue to hold Go to Village camps after considering the wishes of the people.

Regarding the ongoing stir by the teachers of SSA and RMSA, Chief Minister informed that the government is actively considering their demands and will invite their representatives for talks to resolve the issue.

In today's combined Meeyamgi Numit and Hill Leaders' Day, the Chief Minister personally heard about 350 complaints and met around 1000 people from different parts of the State from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm .
