Ragailong murder case : Five pulled up, cops crack down on rally

While five accused have been pulled in connection with the killing of Wahengbam Thembung of Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai, police cracked down and cut short a mass rally organised against the same murder case today morning.
Four persons were pulled up not long after Thembung was killed last night.
Another man was also apprehended today.
However, police have been refusing to divulge details of the apprehended persons.
In the meantime, people today took out a protest rally against the murder of Thembung today.
The protesters were blocked by police near Khoyathong traffic point.
But the protesters somehow breached the police barricade and they managed to march up to Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba (community tank).

There police started firing several rounds of tear gas shells and bombs and they succeeded in scattering and driving back the protesters.
One Wahengbam Gyaneshori (30) w/ Luwangngamba of Thangmeiband Lairenhanjaba Leikai sustained injuries on account of the police crack down.
She was taken to hospital.
Another woman identified as Karam Loidang (48) w/o Lakshman of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai too sustained injury on the right hand.
W Thembung s/o Priyachandra was thrashed to death by a group of people at Ragailong at around 6.30 pm yesterday.
However, Thembung's company Angom Abungcha belonging to the same locality managed to escape from the hands of the assailants.
Thembung and Abungcha reportedly went to Ragailong to meet the former's girl friend.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has appealed to all the people not to interpret the killing of Thembung on communal lines.
Speaking to media persons at their Kwakeithel office this evening, AMUCO advisor KT Rahman appealed to all people not to see the unfortunate incident from communal perspectives.
Noting that some accused have been apprehended, Rahman called upon all sections of people to work collectively so that all those found guilty are given befitting punishment and justice is delivered.
Thembung was chatting with his girl friend when he was attacked and killed by a group of people, conveyed Rahman as told by local people to a team of AMUCO who visited Ragailong today.
The Pei also shared the grief of the deceased family.
