CM appeals all to support extended lockdown

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Nationwide lockdown will be extended till May 3, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has appealed to all the people of the State to support and abide by the decision of the Central Government to win this war against the dreaded disease, COVID-19 .
In a video message sent to media houses, the Chief Minister stated that the State Government fully endorses the decision of the Union Government to extend the Nationwide lockdown till May 3.Lauding the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in combating the pandemic, the Chief Minister said that many countries have appreciated the steps and preventive measures taken up by the Prime Minister in the country.
Stating that the State Government is closely monitoring the situation, Biren urged the people to extend their support and co-operation to the decisions taken by the Government from time to time.
He thanked the people for extending their support to the Government till now.
Biren also appealed to the Manipuris who are stuck outside the State not to get frightened as the State Government has already deputed senior IAS officers for each State to address the grievances they have been facing in various parts of the country.
The Government is closely working with CSOs, student organisations and individuals to help students who are stuck in different States.
Around 17,900 students have been registered through www.tengbang.in and an amount of Rs.2000 each has been credited to the bank accounts of around 2700 students till now.
The Chief Minister also urged the people of the State to respect those drivers and handymen who are risking their lives in shipping essential items to the State.
Reminding the people to follow the seven-point rules laid down by the Prime Minister in his address to the Nation today, the Chief Minister said, "We must take special care of the elderly in our homes, specially those who have chronic diseases.
We need to take extra care of them, and keep them safe from coronavirus".
People must adhere to the lockdown, keep social distance and also use home-made face-covers and masks without fail.
He also appealed to follow the instructions issued by AYUSH Ministry to enhance immunity.
Biren urged all the people to download the Aarogya Setu mobile app to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
He asked the people to take care of poor families to one's best level and be compassionate towards fellow workers/colleagues.
One must pay utmost respect to those who are working at the frontline such as doctors and nurses, sanitation workers and police force, the Chief Minister further said.
