Commemorating the rally, the Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand has been observing July 5 as Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand Day, he said.
This year, the Coordinating Committee on Distur- bance Free Educational Zone Demand comprises MGHSLWA, CASA, AMSGO, AMCTA, AMESTA, CESM, AMSSTA, AMRPSWA, ATSUM, AIMS, DESAM, COTA, UARSOM, PSDC and AMTI.
Saying that they have been asking every one not to create any type of disturbance in education sector since many years back, the DESAM president appealed to all concerned to stop victimising students as a result of any type of conflict.
All the people including State actors and non-State actors need to ensure that education sector is disturbance free.
The Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand strongly condemns all kinds of threats including plantation of bombs at schools, he said.
Ahead of the commemorative event which would be held on July 5, the coordination committee has com- pleted all preparations to launch a campaign from June 15 against all kinds of disturbances seen at education institutes in different parts of the State.
Putting a stop to the practice of using students as a means of achieving certain ends, making education sector a disturbance free zone and understanding the importance of education are the primary themes of the campaign, Lamyanba said.
Saying that a State level debating competition would be organised as a part of the campaign, the DESAM president sought support from all the people to the campaign.
Even if bandhs and blockades must be imposed due to compelling circumstances, education sector should be treated as an essential service and thus exempted, he said.
He then appealed to the Government to resolve the disturbances caused by shortage of infrastructure, teaching staff and mismanagement at Government schools.
