Imphal, January 13 2013 :
The Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) has categorically stated that any form of alternative arrangement for Nagas should not encompass Zeliangrong people living in Imphal valley as the proposed alternative arrangement has nothing to do with Imphal.
Speaking to media persons at their Kakhulong office today, ZU president Amu Kamei stated that the UNC's demand for an alternative arrangement for Nagas of Manipur outside the Government of Manipur, pending a solution to the Indo-Naga peace talk does not cover Imphal valley.
By this logic, Zeliangrong people living in Imphal valley have nothing to do with the proposed alternative arrangement.

Like in the past, the Zeliangrong people living in the valley would continue to live in their ancestral villages.
Even if some Zeliangrong people have moved out of the valley, it must not be been seen as related to the demand for alternative arrangement.
If some people are moving out, it is for personal reasons and works.
Referring to the news item regarding the meeting of Kabui villages at the ZU office on January 11 which was reportedly organised in response to the NSCN-IM's question on their possible future political status and which reportedly adopted several resolutions including the one that the Kabuis would not leave their ancestral villages, Amu Kamei said that the new report was a fabricated one.
Even though the NSCN-IM's intimation was discussed, no decision was taken.
Pointing out that Gaan-Ngai festival falls on January 24 as per Kabui calendar, Amu Kamei appealed to the State Government to declare January 24 a State holiday instead of January 25 which the State Government has already declared State holiday for the same festival.
