Dr Imo passes away at Delhi : COVID-19 claims two more lives, toll rises to 93

Imphal, October 12 2020:
Two more COVID-19 positive individuals died at JNIMS during the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 93 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, a 47-year old from Imphal East and another man aged 53 from Imphal West died at JNIMS during the last 24 hours.
Dr W Imo who was undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital, Delhi died today.
Notably, Dr Imo was tested positive for COVID-19 but later he was found free of the virus and proceeded to Delhi for treatment of post COVID complications.
In the meantime, 230 persons including seven personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Jiribam, Bishnupur, Pherzawl, Ukhrul, Noney, Maipakpi Hospital, Imphal East, Raj Medicity, Jivan Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Shija Hospital, CMC, Hillside Hospital and Tamenglong.
Of the 223 civilians who have been tested positive, 36 belong to Imphal West, 132 to Imphal East, one to Chandel, one to Kakching, one to Kangpokpi, five to Bishnupur, seven to Thoubal, one to Jiribam, four to Churachandpur, six to Tamenglong, two to Ukhrul and three to Noney.
The total number of infected and the districtwise breakup was as per the statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Significantly the districtwise breakup and the tally does not match.
Effort to contact Health officials to get this corrected drew blank as phone calls were not entertained.
Except for three belonging to Imphal East, none of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
Meanwhile, 203 COVID-19 positive people have been discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (11), RIMS (16), JNIMS (3), CCC UNACCO (29), Lamding (8), Kangpokpi (2), Sadbhavna (8), Lanva (6), Noney (4), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (78), Kakching (4), Tamenglong (8), Senapati (2) and CAPF (12) .
Here too, the tally of discharged and the breakup does not match and here too phone calls to get it rectified were not attended to.
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases in the State has reached 13,556 (general population 11,013, Central security personnel 2,543) .
It includes 2756 active cases (general population 2406, Central security personnel 350) and 10,707 discharged cases (general population 8,518, Central security personnel 2189) .
The recovery rate as on Monday is 78.98 per cent.
A late report informed that 91 people were tested positive in Imphal West district today.
Out of them, 16 belong to Langthabal Mantrikhong, five to Loklaobung, four to Chingamakha and five to Sorbon Thingel.
18 residents of Soibam Leikai and six residents of Brahmapur Thangapat are among 73 people tested positive in Imphal East district today.
15 personnel of Assam Rifles posted at Chandel and five police personnel posted at Tengnoupal have also been tested positive for the virus.
It is reported that the Chief Secretary would hold a meeting about the COVID-19 situation prevailing in the State with frontline workers tomorrow afternoon.
The meeting which would be attended by Principal Secretary (Health), officials of Health Department, DCs and CMOs would deliberate on how to combat the pandemic and what precautionary measures should be taken up.
Further, 46 people out of 192 subjected to rapid antigen test in Thoubal today were found infected by the contagion.
