COVID-19 kills one more to take death toll to 45

Imphal, September 12 2020:
A 48-year old woman died of COVID-19 at JNIMS at around 11 pm yesterday, taking the death toll to 45 .
The latest victim hailed from Thoubal district and she was admitted to JNIMS yesterday afternoon.
It is said that she was also suffering from diabetes.
Meanwhile, Meghalaya Power Minister James Sangma who tested positive for the contagion at Imphal airport today has been sent to Mao in an ambulance.
James Sangma is elder brother of Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP president Conrad Sangma.

The duo arrived here in connection with the possible reshuffle of the BJP-led Government's Council of Ministers and the forthcoming by-election to 13 Assembly seats.
From Mao, James Sangma would be taken to the border of Assam in another ambulance arranged by the Government of Nagaland.
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 152 people including 29 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Thoubal, Chandel, Jiribam, Ukhrul, Maipakpi Hospital, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Imphal West, Raj Medicity, Babina Diagnostics, Jivan Hospital, Bishnupur and Shija Hospital.
They belong to Imphal West (60), Kakching (2), Chandel (1), Jiribam (1), Ukhrul (1), Noney (2), Thoubal (12), Bishnupur (2), Imphal East (33) and Churachandpur (9) .
Out of the 123 civilians who have been tested positive, 109 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
On the other hand, 100 COVID-19 patients have been discharged during the last 24 hours from RIMS (5), JNIMS (3), Ukhrul (18), RD Wing (13), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong and CAPF (31) after they were found free of the virus.
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has risen to 7731 (general population 5930, Central security personnel 1801) .
This figure includes 1584 active cases (general population 1284, Central security personnel 300) and 6102 discharged cases (general population 4604, Central security personnel 1498).The recovery rate as on Saturday is 78.92 per cent.
Further, 58 people have been tested positive for the virus in Imphal West district.
They are residents of Thangmeiband Polem Leikai (10), Kanglatongbi (5), Singjamei Chongtham Leikai (5), Keishampat Thiyam Leikai (44), Yumnam Huidrom (4) and four others are escorts of DIG Range I.In Thoubal district, 17 people were found infected by the contagion after rapid antigen test and nine others in Bishnupur district.
