A new leader of BJP legislators is likely to be elected after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return to Delhi from his foreign tour.
Although Chief Minister N Biren tendered his resignation on February 9, there is no question of electing a new leader in the next couple of days.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may arrive at Delhi either on February 13 night or in the early hours of February 14 .
A new leader of the State Government may be elected from amongst the BJP legislators a few days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's return to Delhi, sources said.
According to the sources, the process of swearing in a new Chief Minister may be completed after February 19 .

Even as name for the next Chief Minister is yet to be finalised, Sambit Patra, the BJP's North East Coordinator, met Governor Ajay Bhalla at Raj Bhavan for the third time today, amidst the political crisis in Manipur.
The development comes after N Biren Singh submitted his resignation to Governor Bhalla, who accepted it and asked N Biren to continue as the caretaker Chief Minister until alternative arrangements are made.
The resignation letter was submitted on February 9 .
Amid the political uncertainty, Sambit Patra met different BJP MLAs at Hotel Imphal today, possibly to unite the party's lawmakers.
Sambit Patra has been stationed in Imphal since February 9 (Sunday) on the advice of the Central leadership to address the internal conflicts among the ruling MLAs and find a way forward for the State Government.
As part of his efforts, Sambit Patra has been holding marathon meetings with the ruling MLAs, following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Today, Sambit Patra met the Governor at Raj Bhavan from 10 am to 10.50 am, but what transpired during the meeting remains undisclosed.
Despite the horde of reporters outside Raj Bhavan, Sambit Patra chose not to make any comments and instead headed to Hotel Imphal.
Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam came to Hotel Imphal at around 1.30 pm and held a closed door meeting with Sambit Patra.
The meeting lasted around 30 minutes.
Speaking to the media, Karam Shyam said that a significant development in Manipur's political situation is on the horizon, likely within a day or two.
When questioned about the possibility of choosing a new leader, Shyam clarified that no discussions have taken place on the matter yet.
Khurai AC MLA L Susindro also held a closed door meeting with Sambit Patra at Hotel Imphal at around 2 pm.
When asked about the possibility of putting the State Assembly under suspended animation or imposing President's Rule in Manipur, Susindro declined to comment and left the place.
In a late evening development Thongju Assembly Constituency MLA Th Biswajit took the last flight of the day to Guwahati at 5.40 pm today.
Though no official reason has been cited for the MLA flying to Guwahati, sources said that this could be related to the ongoing political crisis in the State.
On the other sources said that the MLA said that the visit to Guwahati is purely for some personal works.
Significantly Th Biswajit was one of the MLAs with former Chief Minister N Biren during the recent visit to the Kumbh Mela at Uttar Pradesh.
