Imphal, January 11 2018: Chief Minister N.Biren Singh has said that the State Government has taken up necessary measures to make release of funds by the Finance Department simpler and easier.

The Chief Minister disclosed it while speaking as the Chief Guest at a Mega Credit Camp organised by Manipur Rural Bank at Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal today.

.NBiren said that the Government had already issued an office memorandum to shorten file procedures to enable prompt release of funds.

The Chief Minister also asked the authorities of different banks to devise methods of making the procedures of providing funds to the public easier.

On the other hand, N.Biren also exhorted the public to develop better relationship with banks by properly utilising the loan amounts and repaying it on time.

During his speech, he also directed the authority of Manipur Rural Bank to study together with the officials of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) to find out whether there is any feasibility of extending financial assistance to street vendors of Khwairamband Bazaar so that they may start their own business at their own localities.

Once an extensive survey is made, the street vendors can also be extended assistance through various schemes introduced by the Government under the supervision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, he added.

Informing that the State has more than 7.5 lakh unemployed youths as per the reports gathered from different Employment Exchanges, the Chief Minister said that the present Government is seriously trying to find out a means to provide them employment in a time-bound manner.

As such, the State Budget for the fiscal year 2018-19 will give thrust to self employment through skill development, he said while adding that the Government would also help educated youths to start their own business through StartUp project, for which Rs.35 crore had been earmarked.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister also expressed concern that there are some groups of individuals who intentionally try to discredit the present Government by uploading fake and fabricated videos on the social media.

Speaking at the occasion as the Guest of Honour, Forest and Environment Minister Th.Shyamkumar said that it is a matter of delight for the people of Manipur that the present Government had started providing loans to deserving loanees without any hassle under the strict directive of Chief Minister N.Biren Singh.

It is a clear testimony that the Chief Minister is concerned about the welfare of the people, he opined.

Manipur Rural Bank Chairman Dr.Prasanna Kumar Bal was the president of the function.

The Chief Minister and other dignitaries distributed loans amounting to Rs.709.54 lakh to 961 persons and SHGs, out of which 626 (Rs.561 lakhs) were Mudra loans.

Manipur Rural Bank was established on May 28, 1981 as a joint undertaking of Government of India, Government of Manipur and United Bank of India by contributing its share capital at the ration of 50:15:35 under Regional Rural Bank Act, 1976.The bank currently has 22 branches across the State.

During the fiscal year 2017-18 up to December 31, 2017, the bank has disbursed 6201 loans amounting to Rs.3853.51 lakhs.
