Imphal, November 10 2011:
Continuing its scathing attack on the Congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) Government, the Opposition BJP has demanded a probe into 'disproportionate assets' of the Council of Ministers and an immediate enactment for appointment of Lok Ayukta in Manipur.
The saffron party, which has also rolled out its informal campaign for the ensuing State Assembly polls likely to be held in February next year, said the continued economic blockade on National Highways is the testimony of non-existence of a Government.
"We demand immediate investigation into disproportionate assets of the Ministers.
We also demand immediate enactment for the appointment of the Lok Ayukta in Manipur," said BJP National spokesperson Prakash Javadekar at a media conference today afternoon before wrapping up his three-day visit to Manipur.
Taking a dig at a media report on Ibobi Singh, who, in a function, advised aspiring teachers and those seeking jobs in Manipur education department not to indulge in bribery, Javadekar said "BJP wants to ask the State Government whether the people pay bribes out of choice or compulsion ? .

"It would have been better if he (CM) had advised his colleagues, who are involved in neck deep recruitment corruption.
Therefore, it is ridiculous that the Government which has become synonymous with corruption is advising others," he said.
If there is one State which require immediate Lok Ayukta, it is Manipur, said Javadekar, who also addressed a series of election related meetings in the valley areas during his crucial Manipur stint.
Commenting on the intensified economic blockade that entered its 102nd day on Thursday, the MP said the continued choking of supply routes is the evidence of complete abdication of its duties by both the Central and State Governments and is testimony of a non-existent Government.
"The Ibobi Government is hand in glove with the forces that have blocked the National Highways.
The Government is guilty of complicity in the blockade and is responsible for the suffering of the people of Manipur," charged Javadekar.
Stating that BJP is getting support from all sections of the society, he said the party wants to offer the people of Manipur their due and they deserved much better than what they are experiencing.
He said BJP offers integrity, peace and development to the people of Manipur.
On Wednesday, senior BJP leader and former Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha urged all Opposition parties to unite and defeat the Congress.
Sinha had also demanded the Prime Minister to send an all political party team to Manipur.
