Imphal, September 10 2019: The JAC constituted in connection with the mysterious death of N Babysana has declared that they would resume different modes of agitation from September 16 if what were agreed between them and the State Government are not translated into action by September 15.Speaking to media persons this afternoon at THAU complex, JAC convenor Laishram Gyaneshori said that agitation against the mysterious death of Babysana was suspended after Chief Minister N Biren and representatives of the JAC came to an agreement on certain points during a meeting held on Thursday.

The two fundamental points of agreement were releasing arrested members of the JAC and handing over the case of Babysana to the CBI, she said.

Nonetheless, the JAC urged the State Government to record statements of the parents of Babysana and her uncle by a Magistrate under CrPC Section 164 .

The Chief Minister then instructed the Additional DGP and the Imphal West SP who were also present at the meeting to ensure that the statements of Babysana's parents and uncle are recorded by a Magistrate.

However, no statements have been recorded under CrPC Section 16 since the meeting, Gyaneshori said.

Saying that recording of statements by a Magistrate under CrPC Section 164 is required to hand over the case to CBI, the JAC convenor urged the Government to do the needful at the earliest.

The Chief Minister gave assurance to the JAC that he would urge Union Home Minister Amit Shah to direct the CBI to take over the case of Babysana by the sideline of the NEDA meeting held at Guwahati yesterday.

But it remains highly questionable whether N Biren actually raised the issue of Babysana and talked about handing over the case to CBI because nothing was reported in media about any talk between the Chief Minister and the Union Home Minister on the issue of Babysana, Gyaneshori remarked.

She then expressed strong suspicion whether the Chief Minister would ever fulfil his own assurances.

In case what have been agreed between the JAC and the State Government are not translated into action by September 15, the JAC would be compelled to launch different modes of agitation which are more intense than the earlier phase of agitation, she said.

The JAC convenor then appealed to all the people of Thangmeiband to light lamps at night and hoist black flags at residential entrances until the case of Babysana is handed over to CBI.

Gyaneshori further demanded that the State Government should provide compensation/aid for medical treatment to all the protesters who sustained injuries in police action on July 19 .

Notably, 14 year old Ningthoujam Babysana who was reading in Class VII at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur was found hung to death inside the school's hostel under controversial circumstances in the morning of July 18 .
