NCB men script biggest drug haul in State

In the biggest ever haul in the State, personnel of Narcotics Control Bureau seized a consignment of eight cartons containing 12,15, 800 tablets of Ephedrine HCL (15 mg) worth Rs 120 crores in the international market on June 5 from the office of Blazeflash Courier Ltd, Khoyathong opposite ABC carriers, Imphal.
The consignment was meant to be smuggled to Myanmar.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of NCB, Imphal's Regional Director VS Shahasane.
During the follow-up action, three persons were arrested, the Superintendent (NCB, Imphal) said in a statement and added that one of the arrested ran a fictitious a firm named MNG Drugs and Biopharma, Imphal.
The individual's counterpart was using that license without his knowledge for purchase and sale of Ephedrine tablets for a huge profit, the SP elaborated.

Following the seizure of the contraband items, the SP of NCB, Imphal unit has appealed to the general public to extend their co-operation and to thwart the attempts of drug traffickers to ruin the society, especially the younger generation.
The SP also urged the youths to extend cooperation by providing information in order to help the unit effectively crack down on drug traffickers and tackle the menace of drug abuse.
Further conveying that more quantity of the same tablet have been seized from other parts of the country, the statement confided that manufacturers of the tablets have been identified and investigations set in motion.
It is also informed that one Maruti Van and a two wheeler used by the alleged drug traffickers were also seized under reasonable belief that they are involved in activities which were in violation of NDPS Act 1985, the SP reiterated the appeal for cooperation by public to assist the NCB unit cleanse the society from the evils of drug menace.
