Process on to issue power recharge coupon

The Manipur State Power Distribution Company will soon make power recharge coupon available at different outlets for the convenience of pre-paid power consumers.
A senior official of the Manipur State Power Distribution Company told The Sangai Express that the Company is making efforts to make pre-paid power recharge coupon available at various places like mobile recharge coupons are available everywhere.
Preparation of the recharge coupons has been completed, the official said while adding that necessary process for extending facility of recharging pre-paid power meters through on-line is also underway.
The official said that power supply will improve considerably soon while also urging consumers not to resort to meter tampering and power theft.

He also said that plan is afoot to ensure power supply for 24 hours a day.
Daily power consumption in Imphal alone is said to be 90 MW, the official said while adding that the power consumption reaches 115 mw during peak hours.
There are 40,000 pre-paid consumers currently in Imphal.
The Company is targeting to install 80,000 metres and the installation work will be completed within a few months, he said.
Pointing out that installation work of pre-paid meters in Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Thoubal district headquarters has already begun, the official said that pre-paid meter installations will begin at Senapati in June.
He also said that pre-paid meters will be installed at 80 Govt offices in Imphal.
The official added that installation of pre-paid meter is being completed in respect of Old Secretariat and the same would soon be activated.
Pre-paid meters will also be installed at the camps of Army and Central para-military forces like AR, CRPF, CISF, BSF.
The monthly estimated expenditure of the Govt in providing power to the public is between Rs 22 cr and Rs 25 cr while about Rs 8 cr is collected per month as power revenue.
The Company will continue its drive against meter tampering and power theft and any illegal consumers would be booked under relevant sections of the IPC, the official said.
