With the COVID-19 State Consultative Committee worried that the partial lifting of the lockdown as done under a directive of the Ministry of Home Affairs may undermine all the efforts to contain the pandemic in the State, the State Cabinet may adopt a decision on easing the lockdown on separate days for different districts.
With Chief Minister N Biren in the chair, the COVID-19 State Consultative Committee held a meeting today and discussed about partial lifting of the lockdown from yesterday and subsequent outpouring of a large number of people most of whom did not follow COVID-19 management protocol, informed a source.

Members of the committee who attended the meeting pointed out that the situation may turn worse if there are COVID-19 positive individuals among the people who come back to the State in the wake of lockdown relaxation.
After minute deliberations, the meeting came to an agreement that it would be better to ease the lockdown on separate days for different districts and there is still the need to take up all precautionary measures against COVID-19 .
However, a concrete decision would be adopted by the State Cabinet tomorrow, informed the source.
The consultative committee meeting also discussed about putting people who come back from outside the State in quarantine centres.
As agreed at the meeting, expenditure for food would be borne by the State Government while local clubs/NGOs would keep watch over the quarantined people.
Throughout the quarantine period, health workers would keep a close tab on the health conditions of all quarantined people.
The meeting further discussed about bringing back stranded Manipuri people by chartered flight.
Another agenda of the meeting was bringing back of stranded people by MLAs who bear travel expenses of people belonging to their respective Assembly segments.
