2019 nCoV scare: Four samples sent from State to Pune

Amidst stringent precautionary measures taken up at different places of the State to prevent outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus (nCoV), four samples have been sent from the State to the National Institute of Virology, Pune for necessary laboratory tests.
Meanwhile, surveillance against nCoV has been further intensified in the State following detection of third positive case in Kerala.
The Health Department has directed private hospitals/clinics to be prepared for tackling nCoV in case the virus is detected in the State.
Health Director Dr K Rajo said that private hospitals/clinics have been directed to take up all necessary measures from today for tackling nCoV.
He said that isolation wards have been already created at RIMS and JNIMS while district hospitals have been directed to take up all possible precautionary measures.
After two persons who visited China came out voluntarily to undergo test for coronavirus, the Health Department has instructed RIMS to take up necessary steps.
Meanwhile, a man who came to Manipur from Myanmar on a bicycle has been found suffering from fever at Moreh.
As such, an ambulance has been sent to Moreh to bring the man to Imphal.
Samples of both the men who went to China and the man who would be brought from Moreh would be sent to Pune for necessary coronavirus tests.
Our Moreh correspondent adds: A man from Jaipur who went to Myanmar on bicycle through Moreh on January 28 came back to Moreh yesterday with fever.
As the medical team stationed at the Integrated Check Post, Moreh subjected the man to thermal screening, the man was found suffering from fever and he was also coughing.
Subsequently, the man was detained at Moreh hospital before he was taken to RIMS today.
