Imphal, December 02 2019: Manipur People Against Citizenship Amendment Bill (MANPAC) will never compromise on its stand against implementation of CAB in the State during the meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah tomorrow night, said Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, convener of MANPAC during a press conference held at AMUCO office today evening.

Speaking to media persons, Dilipkumar said that MANPAC held a meeting with Chief Minister N Biren Singh yesterday, in light of the situation in the State as a result of the controversial Bill.

The Chief Minister failed to give any confirmation but he verbally assured the MANPAC team to make arrangements for a meeting with Amit Shah so that MANPAC can put up its demand before the Union Home Minister, he said, adding that an invitation was received today from the Central Government for a meeting with Amit Shah in connection with CAB at 10.30 pm tomorrow.

Dilipkumar said that MANPAC welcomes the invitation from the Union Home Ministry after realizing and understanding the importance of a consultation with the association as it has spearheaded many movements in the State against CAB.

He said that he will lead a nine-member team of MANPAC, including president of North East Forum of Indigenous Peoples (NEFIP) and spokesperson of MANPAC Ningthouja Lancha, co-convenors Amu Kamei, Somorendro Thokchom, Ph Debananda, Laishangbam Jadumani, Mangcha Haokip and Thiyam Sharatchandra, and leave Imphal for Delhi at around noon tomorrow.

During the meeting with the Union Home Minister, MANPAC will never compromise on its demand against implementation of CAB in the North East region and Manipur.

He continued that if the Union Government proposes alternative means, then MANPAC will pressure the Government to put indigenous peoples and the land as top priority.

Before leaving for New Delhi, the MANPAC team will visit Khwairamband Ima Keithel at 10 am tomorrow, to take blessings from women market vendors, Imas, leaders of different CSOs, Dilipkumar said explaining that it is due to their contribution and protest in the past that MANPAC was able to get the invitation for the meeting.

After taking their blessings, the MANPAC team will directly head to the airport and leave for New Delhi, he added.

He then appealed to the people to light candles in front of their respective residences, market places, Keithel and religious places so that MANPAC can bring the desired results for the people.

On the other hand, an all political party delegates from the State will also meet the Union Home Minister tomorrow at 9.30 pm in connection with the CAB issue.

The delegate includes Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda Singh and Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh from the BJP, former CM Okram Ibobi Singh and MPCC State Unit president M Okendro from the Congress party, Deputy CM Y Joykumar Singh and Health Minister L Jayantakumar from NPP, PHED Minister L Dikho and NPF State Unit president Awangbou Newmai from NPF, CAF and PD Minister Karam Shyam from Lok Jan Shakti Party, CPI Manipur State Council assistant secretary Kh Surchand Singh, general secretary (Admin) H Gitajen Meitei of Manipur People's Party and Shiv Sena State president M Tombi Singh.
