Three digit increase continues to take total to 6507

Manipur continued to register three digit COVID-19 increase as 125 tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The total number of cases has reached 6507 while the number of active cases at present is 1871 .
Out of the 125 cases, 123 are civilians having no significant travel history while 2 are personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
The 123 cases from among the general population include 104 males and 19 females.
A major chunk of the cases, as many as 40 are from Imphal West district, which is emerging as a major red zone.
The remaining cases belong to Imphal East (18), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (17), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (28) and Kakching (5) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
They are being shifted to COVID-19 Care Centres.
There is no report of death due to COVID-19 today, said a statement of the Government COVID-19 Common Control Room.
It may be noted here that Imphal West is emerging as the worst affected district as the number of COVID cases keep increasing in the State.
Earlier, all the focus was in Jiribam and Thoubal district where a sizable number of cases were detected in just a few days.
Even as Thoubal district continues to report a few cases daily, the number of fresh infections has significantly reduced in Jiribam district in the last few weeks.
The district reported no COVID-19 case today, as per the report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
On the other hand, the recovery rate now stands at 70.80 percent.
As many as 157 persons recovered and were discharged from COVID-19 Care Centres of CAPF (63), Lamboikhongnangkhong (45), UNACCO (29), JNIMS (1), RIMS (5), RD Wing (11), JNV Chandel (2) and PR School Kakching (1) .
They were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test, said the report of the control room.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 6507 which include 4905 civilians and 1602 CAPF personnel.
The number of recovered cases is 4607 including 3660 civilians and 947 security personnel.
The number of active cases is 1871 including 1281 civilians and 653 security personnel, said the report.
Meanwhile, a late report from sources said two healthcare workers on duty at UNACCO COVID-19 Care Centre have tested positive today.
In Imphal West, as many as 67 persons have tested positive for the virus on RAT (Rapid Antigen Test).
The cases include six escorts of former CM and CLP leader Okram Ibobi and four escorts of MLA K Ranjit.
7 from Thangal bazar area, 17 from Monsangei and 5 from Utlou Mayai Leikai have also tested positive for COVID-19 .
16 new COVID-19 cases were also detected at Thoubal district on RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) .
At least 537 samples were tested today at JNIMS and 27 were found positive for COVID-19 .
In Imphal East, 50 migrant workers were tested for COVID-19 and three of them were found positive for coronavirus.
Tengnoupal district also recorded 17 COVID-19 cases.
16 of them hail from Beaulahram village and they were confirmed positive for the virus on RT PCR test.
The remaining one case was found positive on RAT.
The person hails from Khukarthil village.
On the other hand, 5 ambulances for use in COVID-19 related duties have arrived at Imphal, said sources.
