Manipur steps into Aug with 832 new cases, 10 deaths

Manipur stepped into the month of August 2021 with 832 new cases and 10 deaths due to the virus to take the cumulatiye number of positive cases to 99,331 and the total number of deaths to 1566.The 432 cases were detected out of a total of 5600 samples tested to take the daily positivity rate to 14.9 percent.
In a statement issued to the media, the COVID-19 Common Control Room said that a total of 832 positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
The 432 new cases include two Central security personnel.
Of the 830 civilians, women again accounted for the majority of the cases with 430 while men accounted for 400 .
The positive cases were detected during testing at RIMS (37), JNIMS (33), District Hospitals (585) and other testing centres (177) .
The positive cases from amongst the general population are drawn from Imphal East (197), Imphal West (255), Thoubal (63), Bishnupur (120), Kakching (49), Ukhrul (4), Churachandpur (69), Chandel (11), Senapati (11), Tamenglong (22), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Noney (5) and Kangpokpi (20) .
All necessary measures including containment and contact tracing have been put in place, said the statement.
Quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the COVID-19 Common Control Room said that 10 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
The deceased persons belonged to Imphal West (2), Imphal- East (1), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Noney (1) and Chandel (1).Out of the 10 deaths, 7 had co-morbidities, said the statement and added that out of the total only two had received their first vaccine shot.
On the other hand 957 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours from home isolation (503), RIMS (10), JNIMS (13), CCCs (163) and CHICs (268).The cumulative number of recovered cases now stands at 87,360 including 3936 Central security personnel taking the recovery rate to 87.94 percent.
The number of active cases is 10,405 including 47 Central security personnel.
On July 31, a total of 13,974 people received their vaccination shot to take the total number of vaccinated people to 11,07,583 including 2,12,704 who have received their second dose.
In the last 24 hours a total of 2639 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 322 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
The number of vacant Covid beds as enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room are, Hand hospital (8), MSF Little Flower School (8), CMC Koirengei (30), Iboyaima Hospital (11), Jivan Hospital, Kakching (18), Shija Hospital (6) and Raj Medicity (16) .
