Imphal, October 31 2012:
Congress MLAs of the State are set to campaign in New Delhi to oppose any settlement with the NSCN (IM) which may go against the wishes of the people of Manipur.
The MLAs are also planning to call on the Chief Ministers of North East States which have a stake in the issue.
According to a reliable source, the Congress MLAs would not only meet Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki but also Congress and other party leaders in the National capital to discuss the developments of the Indo-Naga peace talk.
On October 10 last, Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde had stated that efforts were being made to bring about a final settlement to the peace parleys between NSCN (IM) and Government of India before Assembly elections in Nagaland scheduled to be held in March next year.
Different media houses have reported quoting different sources that the settlement is likely to be brought by making an arrangement to handover the development works and administration of Naga inhabited areas of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh to a separate body keeping the current boundaries of these States undisturbed.
