Imphal, April 30 2020:
Health and Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar today informed media persons that the Government is taking up steps to bring back Manipuris stranded in different parts of the country and as a first step, the Government has sent 4 buses to Assam to bring 84 people stranded at Manipur Bhawan, Assam.
The passengers will be strictly screened and examined at Mao Gate after which they will be sent to quarantine centres in Imphal for further examination, he said.
After their stay at this quarantine centre, they will be put under home quarantine or institutional quarantine for 14 days depending on health experts, he said.

He also maintained that people should not have any social stigmas against the persons returning home since they have not been classified as infected.
Jayantakumar also highlighted the COVID-19 facilities available at different district hospitals including RIMS and JNIMS.
Further, the Minister stated that the Government is also seeking the help of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Ministry of Home to give permission for chartered flights to bring back Manipuris stranded in different parts of the country.
The Minister also said that the people need to maintain good health and practice the norm of social distancing to keep COVID-19 away.
The Health Department has been putting in its best effort to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, added the Minister.
The State Government after taking suggestions from Ministry of Health has taken up necessary steps to flatten the curve, he said.
Stating that although the two positive cases of COVID-19 in the State have been discharged after testing negative it doesn't mean that the State is totally free from the disease.
"We need to be more careful and vigilant in the coming days," he said.
