Covid claims 5 more, 346 test positive

The State's Covid-19 death toll has jumped to 2046 after five persons died from the virus during the last 24 hours.
As per a report of the State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee, the victims hailed from Imphal West (3), Thoubal (1) and Tengnoupal (1) .
Of the five victims, four had co-morbidities.
Even though two of them had taken the second dose of Covid vaccine, the other three were not vaccinated.
On the other hand, 1971 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and 346 were confirmed positive at RIMS (11), JNIMS (43) and other testing centres (292) which took the daily positivity rate to 17.6 per cent.
The 346 positive cases belong to Imphal East (83), Imphal West (134), Thoubal (18), Bishnupur (14), Kak-ching (15), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (14), Tameng-long (23), Tengnoupal (3), Noney (5), Senapati (14), Chandel (9) and Chura-chandpur (13) .
Noney district logged the highest daily positivity rate of 33.3 per cent followed by Tamenglong 28 per cent, Imphal West 26 per cent and Imphal East 25.2 per cent.
On the other hand, following recovery, 333 Covid-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from home isolation (262), RIMS (5), JNIMS (15) and CCCs (51), informed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and Covid-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The cumulative number of positive cases in the State has reached 1,33,256 (general population 1,28,298 and Central security personnel 4,958) .
It includes 3984 active cases (general population 3806 and Central security personnel 178) and 1,27,226 recovered cases (general population 1,22,453 and Central security personnel 4,773) .
The recovery rate is 95.47 per cent.
A total of 246 D-Type Oxygen cylinders and 96 B-Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of the State yesterday.
Out of the 300 Covid beds of JNIMS and 190 of RIMS, 77 and 37 respectively are currently occupied.
The cumulative doses of Covid vaccine administered in the State has risen to 24,98,548 (first dose 14,23,719, second dose 10,47,232 and precautionary dose 27,597) .
It includes 6303 doses administered on Sunday.
Till January 30, 58.57 per cent of the State's total eligible population has been given the first dose of Covid vaccine while 44.73 per cent has received both the first and second doses.
