Daily TPR drops to .9 pc with 10 new cases

Imphal, December 31 2021:
Out of 1,089 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 10 returned positive to take the daily positivity rate to a new low of 0.9 percent.
The daily positivity rate has been below the 5 percent for the last many days, but with one man testing positive for the Omicron variant on December 27 and genome sequencing results of others being awaited, the State Government has tightened the restrictions on the gathering of people.
Daily curfew has also been clamped from 9 pm till 4 am.
In line with the low daily positivity rate, no deaths were reported for the fourth day in a row since December 28 and the death tally remains unchanged at 2002 .
No Central security personnel tested positive in the last 24 hours and the ten civilians who returned positive results are from Imphal East (4), Imphal West (5) and Churachandpur (1) .
Their positive status was confirmed at RIMS (1), JNIMS (1) and other testing centres (8).Precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing have been put into place, claimed the COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement today.
One person was discharged from home isolation in the last 24 hours.
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 1,23,587 inclusive of 4,428 Central security personnel and the recovery rate is 98.25 percent.
With the addition of 10 more persons, the total number of positive cases now stands at 1,25,788 including 4,440 Central security personnel.
On December 30, 3723 vaccines were administered taking the total to 23,140,76 including 9,89,548 second dose.
Vaccination coverage continue to be poor in the hill districts with Kangpokpi coming at the bottom of the table with just 12.96 pc of population having received the second dose of the vaccine and 19.45 pc the first dose.
Ukhrul too comes low with just 17.95 pc receiving the second dose and 24.45 pc the first dose.
At Kamjong it is 22.39 pc second dose and 33.76 pc first dose; Noney 40.4 first dose and 28.74 pc.
Overall Manipur has 42.27 pc of the eligible population receiving the second dose and 56.58 pc the first dose.
On December 30, a total of 600 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 130 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres.
