In his message, the Governor said, "A new year is always full of hope and ambition.
It is a time for making resolutions, enriched with the knowledge and experience of the past.
One more year has been added to our earthly sojourn and while reckoning our deeds in the year gone by, let us reaffirm our resolve to always stand for peace and harmony in this world, rising above the barriers of caste, creed or religion.
Let us forget our differences and usher in a year of joy and happiness for a prosperous Manipur" .
Okram Ibobi in his message to the people said, "New Year is an opportunity to make a fresh beginning and to renew our resolve to strive for individual as well as collective well-being.
On this joyous occasion, let us all resolve to keep forging ahead unswervingly to make Manipur a more peaceful and prosperous State.
May the New Year bring peace, harmony.

Manipur People's Party (MPP) has also extended its best wishes on the occasion of New Year.
In its greetings, MPP wished that the State experience love, peace, brotherhood, and development with the coming of the New Year,according to a press release issued by the president of MPP.
Maj Gen PN Rao, GOC, Red Shield Division has also extended his heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of New Year.
Wishing every citizen a very prosperous and happy 2016, Maj Gen PN Rao, GOC, Red Shield Division urged the people to recall the teachings of compassion, love and kindness of the Lord on this auspicious occasion and live in harmony to ensure collective progress of the State, according to a statement issued by PRO, Defence, Imphal.
IGAR (S) Maj Gen VS Sreenivas and all ranks of Assam Rifles l)as also extended warm greetings and sincere goodwill to the people of Manipur on the occasion.
IGAR (S) also conveyed his earnest message of peace, harmony, unity and understanding on the joyous occasion.
He earnestly wished that all the goodwill should bring everybody together, irrespective of caste, creed and faith.
He said, "To commemorate the New Year we all must take a resolve to weed out the inimical elements of the society and forge towards the path of unity, peace and prosperity.
May the lord almighty bless us all with joy and happiness and guide us in our endeavours towards building a strong and prosperous nation" .
BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba also greeted the people on the occasion.
Greeting the people, United Christian Women Manipur (UCWM) urged the people to pray and embrace each other forgetting the unpleasant events of 2015 .
The organisation also urged the people to make Manipur harmonious and peaceful.
CPI Manipur State Council, Aam Aadmi Party, Manipur, Educated and Self-Employed Women's Social Service Association also extended New Year greetings to the people.
All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union (AMGSU) and Kanglatongbi Gram Panchayat wished all the communities of Manipur a very Happy New Year and wished that the coming year will bring new hopes, strength, courage and opportunities to work together with all the communities living in Manipur, according to a statement issued by the president of AMGSU.
