NAPSA, CHAMP in semis of 16th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tourney

NAPSA, Kha Imphal sealed a 7 run victory over CHAMP, Khagempalli in the clash for Group B winners and both teams have reached the last four stage of the 16th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament being organised under the aegis of Manipur Veteran Cricket Association as group winners and runners up respectively.
NAPSA, which won the toss chose to bat first at Langthabal Public Ground, managed a total of 134 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 30 overs.
Simon (20 off 17), Doren (16 off 41) and Ratan (24 off) were the notable batsmen of NAPSA before Simon led the bowling attack to hold CHAMP to a meagre 127 runs in 25 overs.
Ibobi, Rajiv of CHAMP bagged 3 wickets each in the first innings while Homeshor was able to claim two wickets.
Ibobi led the CHAMP's batting and hit a half century (53 runs off 49 balls) but his effort went in vain as remaining order proved easy preys to the NAPSA bowlers.
Gulson (24) and Robinson (17) also contributed for CHAMPS before they finished runners up.
Simon was named man of the match for his 17 runs contribution and 3 wicket haul.
In a dead rubber Group B league match staged at Langthabal Public Ground, DSU, Kwakeithel defeated Model Club, Chingamakha by 19 runs.
Electing to bat first, DSU posted a target of 174 runs for the loss of all wickets in 29.4 overs and Tomba (37), Heramani (30), Amarjit (20), Chingtam (19) and Anand (18) were the important run contributors in this innings.
Demin of Model Club led the bowling attack and enjoyed a three wicket haul while Tomba, Gourachandra and Saratchandra claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Model Club could managed only 154 runs in 27.1 overs to go down by 19 runs.
Demin and Ajit shone with the bat for the Chingamakha side scoring 40 and 30 runs each while Tomba added 18 runs before the lower order fell easily to DSU bowlers.
Tomba, Gyaneshor and Somorjit were able to dismiss to wickets a piece while Heramani and Tombi scalped one wicket each in this innings.
Tomba of DSU was eventually named man of the match.
