Imphal, September 07 2016:
St John's School dished out an impressive performance to notch up a comfortable 4-1 win over a hapless Ngainga High School in the ongoing Araang Inter School Cup at Tangkhul Naga Long ground today.
From the first whistle, St John's School went on the offensive and started raiding the territory of their opponents, repeatedly catching the defence line of Ngainga High School on the wrong foot.
Off such an attack, Sothing put his team ahead when he found the net in the first half.
The one goal lead spurred the boys from St John's on and they managed to increase the lead when Ninglum scored again in the first half.
After the lemon break, St John's School again played with renewed vigour and Khansing did the star turn scoring a brace to literally take the match away from Ngainga High School.
The consolation goal of Ngainga was scored by Ngachanpui.
The match ended 4-1 in favour of St John's School.
In another match at the same venue, Shirui High School scrapped past Jesus Goodwill School by 1 goal to nil.
At Bakshi Mini Stadium the other venue of the tournament, Ukhrul Public School and Kiddies School played an entertaining match with the former emerging the winner via the tie break.
Ukhrul Public School shot into the lead when Thanchuipem found the net.
However Kiddies School came strongly back into the match when Yarngam found the equaliser and the tie break was ultimately resorted to.
In the penalty shoot out, Ukhrul Public School won by one goal.
On the other hand 8 schools have been disqualified from the tournament for submitting false information about their players to the organising committee.
The eight schools which have been shown the door are, Maku HS, Chungka HS, Somdal NK Higher Secondary School, Kaziphung HS, STNBA (Irong), Little Angel School, Huining HS and Mapum HS.
