Manipur to face Sikkim in NECDC cricket tourney

Imphal, March 31 2023:
Manipur beat Meghalaya by six wickets to enter the semifinals of the 1st NECDC Senior Men's Interstate Friendship Tournament at Dimapur, Nagaland on Friday.
Electing to bat, Meghalaya were dismissed for 178 in 48.3 overs.
Their total was built on efforts by Arien Binchang, who top-scored for his side with 55, Kishan Lyngdoh (37), Anish Charak (17), Lerry (13), Sanvert B Kurkalang (12) and Swarajeet Das (11) .
The state duo of Bishowrjit Konthoujam and Kishan Laishram inflicted major damage on the opposition batting lineup by taking three wickets apiece while Jotin Pheiroijam, Rajkumar Rex Singh and Bi-kash Singh chipped in with one wicket each.
Manipur then needed 38.1 overs to eclipse Meghalaya's total with 182/4 .
The state team's successful run chase was set up by Md Basir Rahman (50 off 65 balls) and M Langlonyamba Singh (50 off 86 balls) who both a half century.
The duo's scores were supplemented by Jotin Pheiroijam's unbeaten 30, with contributions from Karnajit Yumnam (19), Longjam Ronald (11) and Md Sultan Karim (4 not out) .
For Meghalaya, Akash, Swarajeet Das, Sanvert B Kurkalang and Arbin Singh bagged one wicket each.
M Langlonyamba earned the man of the match for his 50.Following their second win, Manipur emerged as the Group A winners and qualified for the semifinals where they will face Sikkim on Saturday (April 1) at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Dimapaur.
The other semifinal match, on the same day, pits hosts Nagaland against Meghalaya who will play at Sovima Cricket Ground, Dimapur.
