Mega Boxing: Jackson, Rahul, Rohit claim top honours

Jackson Pukhrambam Singh, Rahul Kumar and Rohit Ningthoujam Singh clinched gold medals in the elite men's competition on the closing day of the Mega State Level Open Boxing Championship 2022 on Thursday.
Jackson Pukhrambam out-punched Yuhlung Eraingam Chothe in their gold medal bout (-54kg category) as Rahul Kumar beat Pumsonthang Singson to claim top podium honours (-60kg category) and Rohit Ningthoujam bested Lalmuan in the -63.5kg category final of the elite men's group.
In the youth's competition, Venika Yumnam Chanu beat Hamom Silvia Chanu in the final of the women's -48kg category, Leichombam Lamnganba Mangang defeated Lal Dong Lian Vaiphei to win the men's -57kg category, Huidrom Griviya Devi outperformed Nengboilhing Lhouvum in the women's -57kg final, and Laishram Jamson Singh triumphed over Athokpam Tony Meitei in the men's -67kg summit clash.
On the other hand, seven final matches in the junior group were decided on the concluding day.
The gold medallists included Mutum Nikison Meetei (-46kg boys), Sneha Thangjam Chanu (-48kg girls), Phurailatpam Herison Sharma (-50kg boys), Khumanthem Sinthoi Devi (-52kg girls), Amarjit Takhellambam Singh (-52kg boys), Alina Khaidem (-54kg girls) and Koonjengbam Rodick Singh (-60kg boys).
Also in the sub-junior group, Thoumujam Paik-homba Meitei (-49kg boys), Ningthoukhongjam Dhanaraj (-33kg boys), Kharibam Leishemba (-37kg boys), Ningthoujam Naocha Singh (-40kg boys), Ankit Koirala (-43kg boys), Athokpam Inunganba (-31kg boys), Thoudam Merina Devi (-33kg girls), Yengkhom Giveson Singh (-35kg boys), Bhumika Laishram (-43kg girls), Thangjam Jerison Meitei (-43kg boys) and Khaidem Lamnganba Singh (-46kg boys) walked away with gold medals.
The tournament was organised by United Boxing Academy & NLC Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai under the aegis of Manipur Amateur Boxing Association.
