Sena Cup: IYA lifts Champion Trophy

Kakching, January 25 2015: Putting the curtain down on the sporting extravaganza attended by 14 teams, Ideal Youth Association (IYA), Kakching lifted the trophy of 16th Sena Cup-2015, a district level sub-junior Under 15 boys' football tournament organised by Sena Athletics Organisation (SAO) Kakching Wairi under the supervision of District Sports Association (DSA) Kakching, after dealing a humiliating defeat to the host team SAO by 5-1 goals in an exciting final match played at Kakching Wairi Khunjampat playground on Sunday.

Of the 5 goals of the winning IYA, A Suranjoy scored two goals in the 26th and 44th minute of the match respectively.

Teammate P Sandip also contributed two goals which came in the 30th and 45th minute respectively while the 5th goal was netted by N Naresh in the 68th minute of the full-time match.

During the closing ceremony of the tournament which was conducted just after the final match, the winning team IYA was honoured with the trophy and a cash reward of Rs 20,000 while host team SAO got the runners' up trophy and Rs 15,000 in cash.

The man of the final match was given to A Suranjan of IYA Kakching.

P Sandip of IYA was facilitated with the award of highest scorer while O Suresh of Advance Volunteers' Organisation (AVO), Kakching got the best goal keeper award of the tournament.

Of other awards on offer, Best Defender award was received by Md Nasir Khan of Youth Development Organisation (YDO), Sora; best mid-fielder award by Md Arshad of TYPA Sora, Best striker award by P Sandip of IYA Kakching, Best manager award by N Surjit of SAO, Best fairplay team by South Eastern Sporting Association, Kakching and best player of the tournament by N Druba of SAO.

The concluding function of the tournament was attended by MLA of Kakching A/C Y Surchandra as chief guest, MLA of Wabagai A/C Md Fajur Rahim as functional president while former MLA Dr Usham Deben as guest of honour.
