Konsam FC, BYC enter semi finals on penalties

As the fight for the most handsome trophy in Churachandpur inch closer to its summit, the cheers at Lamka Public Ground reached climax as the second and third quarter finals played yesterday and today ended on nail biting penalties.
In today's quarter final of the Raja Goukhothang Guite Football Memoriam 2020, Rising SC opened their account early with Khaiminlen Haokip finding the net 11 minutes into the game but Bungmual YC which pitched all out in the first half received a spot kick as a result of a handball offence to equalise the scoreline in the 33rd minute through Pau Johnson.
Two minutes later team mate Songkhanlun Tonsing took a direct kick and extended the score to lead 2-1 .
The lead was short lived as Rising SC's Paolenlal Khongsai levelled the score 2-2 in the 44th minute.
The second half witnessed a high-pitch efforts from both the sides to take the lead.
The BYC managed to take the lead in the 72nd minute through Kaiminthang Lhungdim.
Just 2 minutes away from the final whistle, Rising SC turned the tide and scored one through their striker Boipu to level the score and forcing to continue the match with penalty shootouts.
Eventually BYC won 5-3 on penalties to enter the semi final.
Similar game was witnessed in the second leg of quarterfinals played yesterday as Konsham FC and New Lamka YC tied on a 1-1 scoreline in fulltime.
Konsham FC took the lead through Jenish in the 30th minute only to be levelled by Haulallawm, a minute later.
Konsham FC had won the match 5-4 on penalties.
