2nd Sangai Trophy : K Ranjit hits hattrick to help AYMFA thrash SIRTI

Imphal, April 20 2018: AYMFA, Yairipok rode on K Ranjit to thrash SIRTI, Chandel by 6-0 goals and cruise into the quarter finals of the 2nd Sangai Trophy Veteran Football Championship 2018 being organised by United Veteran Football Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.

FC Imphal and VSAC also sailed into the quarter finals round with dominating wins against their rivals.

In the group B league match staged today at 8.15 am, AYMFA started the game positively with the first goal coming in the form an own goal conceded by John Moshel in the 2nd minute of the play.

Md Ashrab then netted the first goal for the Yairipok side to give his team a 2-0 first half lead.

AYMFA continued to dominate the Chandel side in the second half as well and they were able to add four more goals in the process.

W Tomba took the lead in scoring the goal for AYMFA in the second half (35') before K Ranjit netted three goals back to back in the 37th, 45th and the 57th minute.

SIRTI showed no clue of return in this half as well and the game eventually ended 6-0 in favour of AYMFA.

In yet another similar match, FC Imphal, Kwakeithel notched up a convincing 5-0 victory against FLAM, Yaiskul to become group winners and booked a place in the quarter finals.

Both teams played cautiously in the beginning to go for a goalless first half.

FC Imphal surged ahead in the second half and it was A Dilip who opened up through a superb goal in the 32nd minute before he netted his second goal in the 45th minute.

Bale also netted two goals in the 36th and the 59th minute while Ch Ojit struck a single in the 55th minute to complete the 5-0 rout of FLAM.

The last match was also a one sided one as VSAC, Churachandpur thumped IVFA, Canchipur through goals from Paojangam and Stephen and secured a quarter final berth.

The first goal came off a penalty kick well taken by Paojangam during additional time of the first half while the decisive goal was scored by Stephen in the 46th minute of the match.
