Imphal, August 14 2017:
SAK Yumnam Khunou crushed SSC Porompat by 8-2 emerging as the league leader while RAO Lairikyengbam Leikai defeated NIVSO Keibi by 3-0 in the 51st and 52nd matches of the Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division Football League Tournament 2017 at the ABA Kshetrigao Ground today .
In the first match of the day, SAK managed to get out of the relegation with the win.
A victory was crucial and Shankar (6′, 28′, 45′) ensured his team have the upper hand by scoring three goals in the first half.
Th Aboi also played a significant role by netting two early goals in the 4th and 9th minutes of the games.
M Romi (13′), Bimalkumar (18′) and Bikram (72′) chipped in with a goal each to take the total tally to 8 .
Mocha and Chiharing scored the two consolation goals for SSC in the 24th and 84th minutes of the game, and now they cannot help but play in the lower division.
By virtue of results from their previous matches, a wide margin of victory today was not possible to save SSC from relegation .
In the second match, RAO emerged as the league leader and its opponent NIVSO had to face relegation.
A draw was enough for RAO to lead the point tally in the league and a victory was essential for NIVSO to get away from relegation but apparently that was not to be the case as evident from the thrashing today.
N Leibakchaoba played the spoilsport for NIVSO as the RAO’s striker (11′, 58′) netted a goal in each half while Thangam (55′) added the third goal .
DOK Andro will face Eleven Star Sporting Union Akampat at 1pm while YOSC Khurac will clash with PYA Kairang in the 53rd and 54th matches of the league on August 16 .
