KIYC, TRUGPU clear first round of 55th CC Meet

KIYC and TRUGPU advanced into the second round of the ongoing 55th Sir Churachand Singh, KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2011 after defeating their respective opponents in panalty shoot out in today's match played at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
The first match was played between KIYC and AMOFA.
Both teams played a tough match before match ended in a draw with scoreline of 1-1 in normal time.
In penalty shootout, KIYC players netted three balls out of six and won the match while AMOFA could only out two into the net and left the championship with a heavy heart.
With no players able to score a single goal against one another, the match was about to conclude in a goalless draw when Md Rafi of KIYC drew the first blood in the 89th minute of the match which left AMOFA players stunned.
However AMOFA players were quick enough to equalise the score with a last minute goal by M Bidyasagar in the 90+2nd minute of the match.
Md Rafi was issued a yellow card for his unsporting behavious during the match.
In the penalty shootout, Md Islauddin, Gandhi Kamei and K Milan of KIYC netted their shots while Kennedy Vanlaldika, Sheikh Sabir Ali and Ng Sona failed to hit the target.
On the other hand, only M Abung and M Bidyasagar of AMOFA could hit the target while their teammates Bishorjit, Indrakumar, Lokesh and Alen missed the target.
In another keenly contested match today, TRUGPU beat YWC (TH) in penalty shootout after a draw with scoreline that read 1-1 .
Y Jetlee of YWC drew first blood in the 11th minute which was followed by a loud cheer from the fans of YWC who were witnessing the first round match of the ongoing championship.
TRUGPU players tried their best to equalise the score but could not succeeded in the first half which ended 1-0 in favour of YWC.
However, TRUGPU players recollected their weak points in the second half and began to play the match with renewed hopes and vigour.
With multiple attempts to equalise the score Th Premkumar finally managed to score the equaliser in the 63rd minute of the match.
The match concluded in a draw with no teams able to add another brace in their accounts.
L Dewan and P Ajit of YWC were issued a yellow card each by the referee for his unsporting behaviour.
In penalty shootout, YWC players netted only two balls out of four and lost the match against all four of TRUGPU.
The two hits of YWC were from Y Sobha and M Manglemba while the two misses were from H Ajoykumar and Y Somendro.
The four hits of TRUGPU were from G Anthony, N Rakesh, Sh Meiraba and N Dhananjoy.
YOSC who blanked DMRAO in their first rounds match on the opening day will fight NISA in a second rounds match tomorrow at 12:05 pm for a berth in the Pre-Quarter final rounds.
In the second match at 2:00 pm NYC and YPHU will clash for a berth in the second rounds of the championship.
