Cricket is now a bright career option: RK Rex

With the recognition of Manipur Cricket Association as a full member of BCCI, State players can now take up the game of cricket as a prospective career option if he or she approaches with firm determination and hard work, fast bowler RK Rex told The Sangai Express yesterday on his arrival at Imphal.
RK Rex, son of RK Doren and RK Ongbi Renubala Devi of Moirang Hanuba Leirak, Sagolband recently caught the attention of many after achieving a rare feat of taking all 10 wickets against Arunachal Pradesh in a match of Cooch Behar Trophy on December 11 at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.
The 18 year old lad, who is on his 10 days leave, have done exceptionally well for the State in four major and first class tournaments which include recently concluded and ongoing, Vijay Hazare Trophy, U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Cooch Behar Trophy and Ranji Trophy 2018-19.RK Rex made his mark in the Vijay Hazare Trophy by scalping 5 wickets against team Mizoram before shining in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy for his 8 wicket haul against Pondicherry.
He also continued his impressive run at the same tournament enjoying a five-for against Sikkim apart from scoring 80 runs.
RK Rex who is also a part of the debutant Ranji Trophy team have so far featured in two matches and his best effort was against Sikkim where he claimed 3 wickets.
Highlighting the benefits and opportunities after the State got its full membership of the BCCI, RK Rex encouraged youngsters of the State to consider Cricket as a career option.
The player who is a class XII student of Manipur Public School, Koirengei expressed that National camps and tournaments are hindering his academic career a bit but continued that he will sort out a way and manage the situation so that both could go together hand in hand.
Rex said that he wanted to be a fast bowler since his childhood and started his career playing tennis ball tournaments representing his local team MYCC.
He joined PCA briefly after meeting coach Rohindro and then joined YWC, Patsoi before moving to PTRC, Patsoi.
