182 Bn BSF organises mini marathon

Imphal, October 20 2018: A mini marathon participated by about 135 BSF personnel including Ct/Manilla was conducted by 182 Bn BSF Koirengei under the aegis of HQ CI (Ops) BSF, Manipur in connection with Police Commemoration Day-2018 to pay homage to the brave martyrs of BSF.

The marathon was flagged off at 6.40 am from Khuman Lampak Stadium by Bala Devi, w/o M Lekhendro Singh, Comdt (Adm), Sector HQs BSF, Manipur in the presence of families of the martyrs and was culminated at BSF Campus, Koirengei.

Hidam Shubol Singh, Comdt (Ops), Offg DIG, Sector HQ BSF, Manipur graced the function as chief guest and distributed prizes to the winners in the presence of Th Binot Singh, Offg Comdt, 182 Bn BSF and other BSF officials including a large number of BSF retirees.

Today's event was preceded by a series of events including visit and interaction of next of kins of Martyrs, presentation of gifts, cultural events for martyrs on patriotic fervour to give a befitting tribute to BSF martyrs from Manipur in particular, said a press note released by Th Binot, OFFG, 182 Bn BSF.

Marathon Highlight CT Amul Malkari of C Coy won the below 35 yrs category title with a time of 41 minutes 20 second while CT Shailendra Kr Singh, 37-G Coy (42 minute 36 seconds) and CT Supriyo Ghosh, 34-F Coy (42 minutes 44 seconds) claimed the second and the third spot respectively.

Sharnappa Y of 90-G Coy took 51 minutes 43 seconds to win the above 35 yrs category title while CT B Basumatari of 99 MT finished second with a time of 53 minutes 12 seconds.

CT S Mahato of 72 D Coy finished third by taking 53 minutes 38 seconds.

In the mahilla (women's) below 35 years category competition, Prikansha Devi of 47 C Coy clocked 1:2:25 to finish first while Ram Chitti Yadav of 50- E Coy (1:3:11) and Jamuna Rathore of 49 E Coy (1:4:25) claimed the second and the third place.
