11th Manipur State League NISA stun defending champ AIM

North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), Thangmeiband stunned defending champion Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM), Khabam 2-1 while Sagolband United (SU) and Young Physique Union (YPhU), Lalambung shared one apiece in the ongoing 11th Manipur State League today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Both sides got a perfect start even as NISA dominated the first half with a high-pace pressing game.
NISA took the lead when David KC Ngaihte slammed home a goal in the 15th minute sending their opponents scurrying to find an equaliser.
Although AIM were struggling to make clear cut chances, they found it hard to settle.
L Milan doubled the lead for NISA in the 44th minute just before the end of the first half.
The first half ended with NISA taking a 2-0 lead.
Rejuvenated AIM bounced back after the breather with full force and they got rewarded for their efforts as N Pritam pulled one back for AIM.
However, they could not find the equaliser.
In another exciting encounter, Sagolband United (SU) were held to a 1-1 draw by Young Physique Union (YPhU), Lalambung.
The match saw a thrilling start as both sides were full of energy and keenly pursuing to win the match.
S Sanjoy opened the account of YPhU in the 27th minute and the first half ended 1-0 in their favour.
M Priyananda of SU ensured a fine finishing to the ball set up by team mate Kh Krishnananda in the 59th minute.
Even as both sides made efforts to break the deadlock, none could succeed in making any breakthrough.
