Khelo India : Mangalsana clinches another gold

Imphal, February 04 2018:
Manipur's M Mangalsana laid his hand on the gold medal for the second time today in the 50 m breaststroke event of the 1 st Khelo India School Games which began on January 31 under the aegis of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports at New Delhi.
Players from all over India are competing in 16 disciplines in this mega sporting event.
M Mangalsana bagged his second gold medal today in the 50 m breaststroke event with a time of 31.58 sec.
He fetch his first gold medal in the 100 m breastroke and a broze medal in the 200 m breaststroke event.
Manipur have now collected 3 gold medals and one bronze medal in this sporting event so far.
Yesterday, Angom Rani bagged the other bronze medal in the 3000 m walking race by completing the course with a time of 14:53.90.The other gold medal was bagged by Laishram Shayon Meitei in the 50 kg Greco Roman (wrestling) final held on February 2 .
Manipuri boxers also enjoyed another good day as 7 of them made upto the last 8 stage of their respective weight categories.
Md Nazimuddin was first to qualify after beating Gourav Singh of MP in the 46 kg pre-quarter final bout.
Th Danny got better of Avinash Tiwari in the 66 kg bout while TH Sagar (75kg) defeated Arear Mishra of Tamil Nadu to cruise into the quarter final.
Four girls who also advanced into the quarter finals are Sanathoi Hemam (54 kg), H Ambeshwori (54 kg), H Ashalata (57 kg) and Th Elena (60 kg) .
Yesterday, four boxers from the State, Thingmila Dongel (48 kg), N Meneka (63 kg), Th Sanamacha (70) and Th Nanao (48 kg boys) also booked their place in the quarter-finals.
