7 Judokas, 6 women, 1 man to take part in National Games

Expressing optimism on the performance of Manipuri Judo players, coach Deban has stated that State players would surely win not less than five gold medals in the forthcoming 35th National Games to be hosted by Kerala from January 31 to February 14 .
In all 7 Manipuri Judokas, 6 women and one man, would be taking part in the National Games this time.
Among the women Judokas, L Shushila, O Rameshwori, T Sanamacha, N Bina Devi, H Sunibala and M Surjabala would compete in the weight categories of 48 kg, 52 kg, 57 kg, 63 kg, 70 kg and 78 kg respectively while S Inao Singh would compete in plus 78 kg for men.
The State Judoka team is to be led by Deban Moirangthem as coach and Kh Gojendro as manager.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Deban recounted that in the last edition of the National Games held at Jharkhand, Manipuri women Judokas secured in all 6 medals.
These included three golds by H Sunibala in plus 78 kg, Th Kalpana in 52 kg and Angom Anita in 57 kg and three bronze medals by Kh Tombi in 48 kg, Kh Rashi in plus 78 kg and Ch Jina in plus 70 kg.
Consideration this fact, the six women Judokas in the State team this time could bring home at least four gold medals from the forthcoming National Games while another gold could be expected from the lone man player, Deban added.
He informed that the State Judoka team would leave Imphal for Kerala February 5 .
