TNFCC to host centenary football tournament

Tangkhul Naga Football Centenary Committee (TNFCC) will host a centenary football tournament to commemorate hundred years of 66th Unit Tankhul football team from 22nd Manipur Labour Corps who had represented at Blargies, France in 1917 during the first world war .
The historic centenary event in remembrance of Chara, Haitong, Kanrei, Khorkham, Lungthuk, Ngashangshi, Porom singh, Reichumhao, Tariya, Wokkha and Wungzak will be held from December 5 to 18 at Ukhrul town .
Convener of TNFCC Sword Vashum in a press conference, said that the objective of the tournament is to promote and revitalize the same spirit of the forefathers who performed and exposed Tangkhul’s identity through sporting activities at the international level during WW-I.He also added that a mega marathon race will also be held in all district headquarters of the State, other parts of India and abroad as well .
The football tournament will be open for all interested football clubs of the State and beyond .
As a part of the centenary celebration, events to promote tourism, film, culture, music and education fair and football seminars will also be organised.
