We should hope for Olmpic medals from the state karatekas, vice-president of the Karate Federation of India, Thangjam Kirankumar said.
Th Kirankumar was speaking at the reception ceremony of Thokchom Roji Chanu, who won a kumite gold medal and bronze medalist Chakpram Raju at the 27th KAI Sub-junior Cadet and Under-21 National Karate Championship that was held at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi from 11th to 13th May.

Karate has been finally approved for Tokyo 2020 Olympics after a long push for its inclusion since 1964, Th Kirankumar added and spoke on the karate movement and emphasised on the prospects of state karatekas in the Olympics.
The president of YVU Patsoi, Mutum Ibotombi and pradhan of the Patsoi gram panchayat, Th Tomba, as well as coach Soibam Chandrima Chanu and Leijam Hemamani also participated in the reception ceremony.
Thokchom Roji Chanu and Chakpram Raju, who won a kumite bronze medal in the 60-kg category, received Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively at the reception.
