Ministry of YAS invites eligible sportspersons, coaches for sports awards

Imphal, March 19 2018:
Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India in a press release issued on March 17 invited applications from eligible sportspersons and coaches for 4 major sports awards.
The awards to be honoured are: Dhyanchand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Games, 2018; Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, 2018; Arjuna Award, 2018 and Tenzing Norgay Award, 2017 .
Sportspersons who have had not only good performance at international level but also should have continued to contribute to promotion of sports in his individual capacity even after his career as a sportsperson is over.
A sportsperson should also have shown qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and sense of discipline are eligible for the Dhyanchand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Games.
The sportspersons who had produced spectacular and most outstanding performance in Olympic games/ Asian Games/ Commonwealth Games/ World Cup/ World Championship/ equivalent recognised International tournaments over a period of four years immediately preceding this year can apply for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, 2018 (achievement during the period : Jan 1, 2014 to Dec 31, 2017 will be taken into consideration) .
Sportspersons who had not only performed well in the previous four years at international level but also had shown qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and sense of discipline can apply for the Arjuna Award.
Achievement for the period Jan 1, 2014 to Dec 31, 2017 will be taken into account.
Person who had excellent performance and have outstanding qualities of leadership, sense of adventure discipline are eligible to apply for the Tenzing Norgay Award, 2017 .
Performance of the persons in adventure activities in the last three years (2015, 2016, and 2017) may be taken into account for this award.
