LYCC draw 3-3 with FC Lamjao as Winners' Cup begins

Chara Mongam's stoppage time goal helped LYCC, Chandel hold FC Lamjao to a 3-3 draw at its home ground Liwa Sarei playground in the Thangjam Birachandra Memorial 24th Winners' Cup 2019 which kicked off today under the aegis of All Manipur Football Association.
Sankhil Bungpem took centrestage of this exciting match as he scored twice to help LYCC stage a comeback after FC Lamjao started positively and enjoyed a 2-1 lead till the break.
E Joykison handed FC Lamjao the lead early in the 6th minute after the two sides exchanged few runs on either side before his team mate Th Nilakanta doubled their advantage in the 12th minute.
Sankhil Bungpem then pulled back a goal for LYCC in the 26th minute to make it 1-2 till the break scoring his second in the 48th minute and draw level.
FC Lamjao which were surprised by the back to back goals, clawed back into the game with Th Yaiphaba breaking the deadlock in the 73rd minute but to their disappointment, LYCC restored parity during the additional time of the second half (90+3') through Chara Mongam.
FC Lamjao's E Joykison and U Sarat were yellow carded respectively in the 76th and the 79th minute of the match for their frenetic moves in the latter portion of the second half.
FC Lamjao will host LYCC next on November 21 at Lamjao Ground, Kakching at 1.30 pm.
Meanwhile, Symporia started their campaign with a 2-0 home win against JSYC, Kangpokpi at Public Ground, Churachandpur.
C Pauginmuan struck the opener for Symporia in the 8th minute of the match while Lienlalmuon rounded off the scoring in the 88th minute of this slightly one sided encounter.
JSYC will host Symporia at Thomas ground, Kangpokpi next on November 21 at 1.30 pm.
Altogether 9 top teams from various districts are taking part in this tournament organised in home and away basis.
