Vipin Kuki Football Trophy underway in Sadar Hills

Imphal, January 17 2013:
The first ever Vipin Kuki football Trophy get underway at Twhsomjang village under Sadar Hills since yesterday.
The tournament will conclude on January 25 .
The trophy is being organised in memory of late Vipin Kuki, former commander-in-chief of the Kuki National Organisation/Kuki National Army (KNO/KNA) .
The occasion is being sponsored by the Sinai Camp of KNO/KNA and organised by Bungpi Area Kuki Students Organisation, Sadar Hills.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest yesterday, Saikul constituency MLA Yamthong Haokip opined that sports is a good ambassador of peace.
He said sports can be used as a very effective means to bridge any gap between communities.
Yamthong Haokip further said that sports have also brought promoted the Manipur State in a big way.
Yamthong Haokip said sports persons from Manipur brought more laurels to the state.
Advising the youths, Yamthong Haokip said indulging in intoixicants and other bad habits are the number one enemy of the sports persons.
"If you want to be a successful sports person, you should be a disciplined person free from all sorts of bad habits," Yamthong Haokip added.
Commandant of 16th Assam Rifles Naveen Tiolia said an occasion like this is the best opportunity to build a career in sports.
He said youth leaders should show the way to thewir youngers in building a successful sports person.
Naveen Tiolia assured to extend assistance to the locality especially to the youths.
Major VK Chouhan and Major Shailendra of 16 Assam Rifles also participated in the opening ceremony of the trophy as resource persons.
