NE Tennis Championship : Lalmachuana wins men's singles title

Imphal, November 12 2017:
Lalmachuana from Mizoram beat H Becker to win the men's singles title of the 5th North East Cash Prize Tennis Championship 2017 which is organised under the aegis of Manipur Tennis Association at Officers' Club's Deko Turf Tennis Court, Lamphel.
In the final match, Lalmachuana outclassed H Becker of Manipur in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 to claim the single's title.
Lalmachuana walked away with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and the title trophy while runner-up H Becker got Rs 25,000.Luching Lukram and Th Rivasker who made the semi-finals were also awarded Rs 5,000 each.
Ch Bunty who won the ladies' singles title was awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with the title trophy while Charmi got the runner-up trophy with a cash prize of Rs 5,000.Semi-finalist Y Agu and L Linda were given Rs 2,500 each as consolation prize.
T Brojen and Th Rivaskar who won the men's doubles' title were awarded Rs 20,000 with the title trophy while Assam's Amlan Joti and Rupam Gogoi were given Rs 10,000 with the runners-up trophy.
The pairs of Kh Bona-H Becker and Lalmachuana-A Mahesh were awarded with a consolation prize of Rs 4,000 each.
N Kangjam-Tuley Thongbam who won the above 45 years doubles' title walked away with Rs 10,000 with the title trophy.
Gupta and S Sarda who bagged the runner-up titles werjs awarded Rs 5,000 in cash.
Semi-finalists, Th Ibohal-H Sanatomba and L Prakash-M Ranjan were given Rs 2.500 each as consolation prize.
In the above 55 years doubles' category, Y Ibotombi and H Ibotombi were awarded the title trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 while runners-up duo, B Kakoti and Th Indrakumar were awarded Rs 5,000.Semi-finalists, W Iboyaima-Lemba and H Kala-H Iboyaima were given the consolation prize of Rs 2.500 each.The valedictory function was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Sambhu Singh (IAS), Athui Pamei (IAS), president Manipur Tennis Association as dignitaries.
