BYFY, Yairipok, YWC, Thambalkhong leave the tournament

After winning their respective matches today, the Southern Sporting Union (SSU), Singjamei and the North Eastern Re-Orga-nising and Cultural Association (NEROCA), Sangak-pham entered the pre-quarter final round of the 53rd edition of the Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2009 organised by the All Manipur Football Association at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
On the other hand Bishnu Naha Youth Federation, Yairipok (BYFY) and Youth Welfare Club (YWC), Thambalkhong bowed out of the tournament after losing their second round matches today.
SSU, Singjamei and BYFY, Yairipok played the first match today.
It was an interesting match between the two teams each trying their best to defeat their opponent team to proceed further into the pre-quarter final round.
Both teams displayed a real tough match against one another.
They gave each other little chance to strike goals.
As they played the match with almost equal skills and tactics, they could not scored a single goal against one another in the first half and the first half of the match concluded in a goalless tie.
Players of SSU played the match more substantially with high hopes and determination to win the match.
As a result, SSU registered its first goal against BYFY in the 50th minute of the match.
The first goal of SSU was scored by Gaichungam Kamson.
With one goal ahead of them, players of BYFY tried hard to equalise the scor.
But to their disappointment, E Abocha of SSU struck another goal against BYFY in the 74th minute of the match which extended the lead of SSU with two goals.
However BYFY players did not lose their hopes and tried their best to equalise the score and succeeded in striking back at least one goal against SSU.
After that however hard they tried BYFY players could not scored back any goal against SSU and lost the match.
The solitary goal of BYFY was scored by H Priyojit in the 78th minute of the match.
Meanwhile, in the second match today, NEROCA, Sangakpham defeated goalless YWC, Thambalkhong with three goals and entered the pre-quarter final round.
On the other hand YWC after losing the match was ousted from the tournament.
Both teams displayed a real tough match against one another in the first half of the match giving each other no chance to strike goals.
As a result the first half of the match almost concluded in a goalless tie.
But in the 44th minute of the match Kh Satish of NEROCA struck a goal against YWC and lead with one goal in the end of the first half.
In the second half players of NEROCA began to play the match more substantially.
On the other hand players of YWC tried their best to equalise the score.
In the meantime, Kh Satish of NEROCA again scored another goal against YWC in the 50th minute of the match and extended his team's lead with two goals.
With two goals ahead of them, players of YWC recovered soon and played the match more substantially than before and fought their opponent valliantly.
But they could not strike a single goal against NEROCA.
Luck was on the side of NEROCA as they got a nice chance to extend their lead upto three goals when they were awarded a penalty kick in the 80th minute of the match.
K Premjit of NEROCA turned the penalty kick into their third goal against YWC.
The match concluded with NEROCA winning and entering the pre-quarter final round while YWC bowed out of the tournament.
