Mumbai, November 21 2014 :
MC Mary Kom missed the World Championships that are underway in South Korea due to injury.
However, the five-time World Champion pugilist, who won gold at the Asian Games in Incheon last month, is gradually getting back to training with an eye on competitions next year that will help book her place at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
"I sustained an injury in my hamstring and on my back after training hard for almost a year.
But, these are minor injuries, and with proper treatment I will be fine.
I hope to be in action soon next year and compete in major tournaments," said Mary, who was handed a cheque of Rs 5 lakh by Edelweiss Tokio Life to support the boxing academy that she is building in Manipur.
The funds were generated via crowd funding over a period of one week.
Over a couple of years ago, Mary returned from the London Olympics with a bronze and is keen on improving her show in Rio.
